Is He your Soter?

"Soter" (sō-tā'r)  Definition: savior, deliverer, preserver

Do you know Him?  Do you want to know Him?

If you do not know Jesus Christ as your savior and you want to know Him all you have to do is ask Him!  I liken it as when you see two small children on a play ground, that have never met, walk up to each other and ask, "Do you want to be my friend?" and the other says, "Sure!".
Jesus wants so much to be your friend.
But, there is even more to it than that!  Not only does He want to be your friend, He wants to be your rescuer, your dad, your protector, your counselor, your advocate, your defender, the supplier of all your needs, and the list goes on and on.  Where in the world can you meet a complete stranger that can promise and fulfill all those things, because they had already endured a harsh death and penalty in your place before you were even born, without anything in return?  That doesn't even make sense!  But that is exactly what He did for you!

Ephesians 2:9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.
Romans 5:8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

Our sin has separated us from Him because He is so pure and holy.  So to bring us closer to Him, He sent His Son, so that we won't be separated from Him any longer and have eternal life with Him.  He loves us so much that He wants to save us from death and torment in Hell!  You have an enemy that wants to steal from you, kill you, and destroy you!  God sent Jesus to be born and to save you from that.  The word "sozo", in the Bible is a Greek word.  The new testament was written in Greek.  It is translated in English as "saved".  The definition is this:
1) to save, keep safe and sound, to rescue from danger or destruction
a) one (from injury or peril)
1) to save a suffering one (from perishing), i.e. one suffering from disease, to make well, heal, restore to health
1) to preserve one who is in danger of destruction, to save or rescue

Ephesians 2:8 God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.

All we have to do is take responsibility and admit that we are sinners, and without Him we can't be saved from eternal darkness.

Romans 3:10 As the Scriptures say, “No one is righteous—not even one."
Romans 3:23  For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

Then we must believe that He is the one and the only one that can do anything with the mess of sin that we have.  And that He is the one and the only one that can save and set us free.  That is believing that He is Lord over all things!

John 3:36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him.
Romans 10:10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

And finally, we need to confess, or declare openly, that Jesus Christ is Lord.  That means that we should not hide who He is and what He has done, so that others can come to the same freedom and salvation that we have!
Here is one of the most important parts of this that we need to understand: Just because we are now saved and cleansed, it doesn't mean we will never have pain or trials here on earth.  We will.  The difference now is that we have hope.  Hope that this will only last for the time we are here on earth and that we will be in eternity free from all pain and injustice with God in paradise!  And a hope in that whatever we face here on earth, He carries us and brings a strength and covering that we wouldn't have known without Him.  We will survive things that before knowing Him we would fall under.  And we will come out stronger than before!

Romans 10:9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans 10:13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

So to recap, here are the steps to pray:
1. Admit you're a sinner.

2. Believe Jesus is Lord
3. Confess Jesus is Lord

If your ready to receive the gift He is offering you then lets tell Him.  Prayer is just communication between you and Him.  So you may tell Him in your own words or you may say/pray this to Him:

Lord Jesus,
I know and admit that I am a sinner.  That with out You, dying on the cross, I would be headed for eternity in Hell with no hope.  I know that there is nothing I can do, on my own, to make me clean.  You took my place for the punishment of my sins.  Lord, forgive me.  I ask, from this day forward, that You would help me to put all my trust and faith in You and live a victorious Christian life!
Thank You Jesus for washing me white as snow!!!!
Amen

If you have said this prayer, I invite you to contact me and someone in a local church and let them know.  I want to hear from you so I can rejoice with you!  Luke 15:4-10 shows that over one sinner that repents, God gathers His angels and rejoices!  So He is rejoicing over you right now!  Congratulations!

Another reason to contact me and someone else, is that it is so important to have others around you to help answers questions and to grow.  You can't walk alone.  That is why we are called the "family of God"!

WELCOME!
